Meetings are held the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm at the Historic Court House in downtown Lapeer. New Members Welcomed! The Lapeer County Committee Minutes are listed with other committee meeting minutes

Project areas:

Benthic Monitoring - Volunteers needed

River Cleanup: Peter McCreedy is the project leader.  Peter is a teacher at Chatfield Schools.  He has an organized program to clean and dispose of trash in the river and streams in Lapeer County. Volunteers needed.

Obstruction removal/Habitat Restoration:  Project Leader Joe Leonardi (810-245-1250).  Joe is a Fisheries Management Biologist with the Michigan Dept. of Natural Resources.  He orginizes teams to remove log jams from the river in an environmentaly sound way, so that there is habitat for fish and life in the river.  Volunteers needed. 

Education/Outreach:  Project Leader Diane Peplinski (810-688-3344) has been working with Brent Nickola from the University of Michigan-Flint, Center for Applied Environmental Research (CAER) on a watershed management plan for the South Branch of the Flint River.
